Audiences are thrilled for the chilling show It: Welcome to Derry, that's been receiving positive feedback and drawing from references from other Stephen King works. Following the premiere, the network has revealed that the next chapter will premiere ahead of schedule, scheduled ideally for October 31st.

Beginning on October 31 at 3 a.m. EST, episode two of the Derry prequel will make its debut on the streaming service, prior to its Sunday HBO premiere. The remaining installments of the eight-episode season will premiere on the weekend on both HBO and its streaming arm, leading up to the final episode on Sunday, December 14.

Based in Stephen King’s It universe, the new series is inspired by King’s iconic novel while enlarging the universe brought to life by director Andy Muschietti in It and It Chapter Two. The original It centered on kids and teens facing unimaginable horrors, making it appropriate that this show continues that tradition. Nevertheless, the debut of the streaming show demonstrates it aimed to escalate the fear, delivering heightened horror than the movies and setting a brutal tone for what's to come.

Taking place in the 1960s, the program introduces a different group of grown-ups and kids residing in a seemingly idyllic town masking a sinister core. Derry functions through a cruel, recurring cycle—characterized by violence, bigotry, and the supernatural, as a terrifying being returns once every three decades. Even though Welcome to Derry might seem like it skews too close to the movies on the surface, what differentiates the HBO Max series is its dual perspective—unfolding through the viewpoints of young and old concurrently. Children are especially susceptible to It's terror, but the adults also face dealing with their own nightmares arising from Derry’s deep-seated bigotry and covert otherworldly powers.
