Patrick Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Leading Abusive Chants About Coach Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only half a year after starting disrespectful songs directed at the team's coach, Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club after departing from Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a deal with the second-tier strugglers until January. Bamford's lengthy time with Leeds was ended by mutual consent this past summer.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts as a Leeds player included starting offensive chants about Wilder amid the club’s success festivities this spring. Now, the one-cap England international will be playing under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to rescue his beloved club away from the bottom places.

Previous Conflict Involving the Striker and Wilder

The pair had a past prior to Leeds moved up back to the top flight last season while Sheffield United lost the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” back when the situation was different in 2018-19 and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion while Leeds fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

All seems has been resolved with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, in desperate need of a boost in attack and Bamford looking to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no problem at all with that. I’m not sure about the language from a fellow pro! But I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We spent a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a half-hour chat together and he's a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we would give it and accept it and that is an integral part of football across all levels, even on a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I'm fine with it and I told him that to Pat.”

Latest Career Challenges

Bamford featured in 18 appearances for Leeds last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough player has struggled with injury in recent years.
