Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got significant support from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I accept my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to fight.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
