Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is filing a lawsuit against the producers of Tylenol, claiming the corporations hid alleged dangers that the pain reliever presented to children's brain development.

The court filing follows thirty days after Donald Trump publicized an unproven link between consuming acetaminophen - alternatively called acetaminophen - while pregnant and autism in young ones.

The attorney general is suing J&J, which formerly manufactured the drug, the only pain reliever approved for expectant mothers, and Kenvue, which currently produces it.

In a statement, he said they "misled consumers by gaining financially from pain and promoting medication regardless of the risks."

Kenvue says there is insufficient reliable data tying acetaminophen to autism.

"These companies lied for decades, deliberately risking numerous people to line their pockets," Paxton, a Republican, declared.

The manufacturer stated officially that it was "seriously troubled by the dissemination of inaccurate information on the reliability of paracetamol and the potential impact that could have on the well-being of women and children in America."

On its official site, the company also said it had "continuously evaluated the pertinent research and there is insufficient valid information that indicates a proven link between using acetaminophen and autism spectrum disorder."

Associations speaking for doctors and healthcare providers concur.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists has stated paracetamol - the primary component in acetaminophen - is one of the few options for women during pregnancy to treat pain and elevated temperature, which can pose significant medical dangers if not addressed.

"In multiple decades of studies on the utilization of paracetamol in gestation, no reliable research has successfully concluded that the use of acetaminophen in any stage of gestation causes neurodevelopmental disorders in children," the organization stated.

This legal action cites recent announcements from the former administration in asserting the drug is reportedly hazardous.

Recently, the former president caused concern from public health officials when he instructed women during pregnancy to "resist strongly" not to consume Tylenol when sick.

The US Food and Drug Administration then issued a notice that doctors should contemplate reducing the usage of acetaminophen, while also declaring that "a proven link" between the medication and autism in minors has not been proven.

Health Secretary RFK Jr, who manages the Food and Drug Administration, had promised in spring to undertake "a massive testing and research effort" that would establish the source of autism in a short period.

But authorities warned that discovering a single cause of autism spectrum disorder - considered by experts to be the result of a complicated interplay of inherited and surrounding conditions - would not be simple.

Autism is a type of enduring cognitive variation and condition that impacts how individuals perceive and relate to the surroundings, and is identified using physician assessments.

In his court filing, Paxton - aligned with the former president who is running for the Senate - claims Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson "deliberately disregarded and sought to suppress the science" around paracetamol and autism spectrum disorder.

The lawsuit attempts to require the firms "remove any marketing or advertising" that claims Tylenol is safe for expectant mothers.

The court case mirrors the grievances of a group of parents of children with autism spectrum disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder who filed suit against the producers of Tylenol in recently.

The court dismissed the case, declaring studies from the parents' expert witnesses was inconclusive.
