Trump Calls Families of Injured National Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.

He added that he conversed with her parents and they were “devastated”.

Background on the Devastating Event

Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.

White House Invitation

The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Community members assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to honor Beckstrom.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the individual that instructors desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the head of her previous school, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to help others.”

Funeral details for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Authorities have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with one count of homicide and two counts of violent assault while armed.

The tragedy caused the administration to suspend asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader the governor mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” he told the crowd at the service. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
